The April 16 “Tech Tour” featured several local data centers including stops at Great Lakes Comnet, ACD.net and Liquid Web. Students also toured the Arbaugh Lofts and Lofts on Washington Square before heading over to Cooley Law School Stadium for a Lansing Lugnuts’ baseball game. Thanks to the generosity of the City of Lansing and Lugnuts’ Ownership (who offered up their respective luxury suites) and Liquid Web (who provided plenty of food and drink)—the participating students and employers helped us close out the 2009/2010 “Tech Tour” program year with another unforgettable socializing/networking event!
The February 26 “Tech Tour” showcased several of our program sponsors, including Dewpoint, TechSmith and Sircon, a Vertafore Business. There was also a tour of the Stadium District and a socializing/networking hour at the Exchange in downtown Lansing.
The November 6 East Lansing “Tech Tour” featured opportunities on and around campus with stops at IBM, A.J. Boggs & Company, New Horizons Computer Learning Center, and Artemis Solutions Group. The tour visited the Motorwheel Lofts before concluding with a socializing/networking hour at Clara’s Restaurant on Michigan Avenue.
The February 27, 2009 Okemos “Tech Tour” featured stops at Netvantage Marketing , Delta Dental of Michigan and TechSmith—as well as a tour of Somerset Place Apartments in Bath. The tour concluded with a “speed-networking” activity where students interacted with local IT employers while enjoying pizza from Guido’s (yum!)
Matt Roush, editor of the Great Lakes IT Report joined a group of 32 MSU students on a special GLITR edition “Tech Tour” on Friday, January 23, 2009. Sircon, a Vertafore Business, Strategic Products and Services and Dewpoint coordinated facility tours, and as a bonus the students traveled to East Lansing’s new Technology Innovation Center (IT incubator)—which is home to another dozen or so local tech start-ups.
